The 95th annual Vancouver International Auto Show was held in late March at the Vancouver Convention Centre where numerous models were on display, including concept vehicles not available for sale. This six-day event brought in crowds of car lovers to see what is available and what they can dream about.
This event offers many activities and exhibits for the avid car lover, including concept cars and new models being unveiled for the first time. You can also see some of the classics that inspire today's models.
The Show
Among the myriad of vehicles being showcased at the Vancouver International Auto Show, each manufacturer displayed their top-of-the-line models. Vehicles on display included a Lamborghini, Porsche GT3 and Ferrari 458. One of the events was the Green Ride & Drive where visitors got behind the wheel of eco-friendly vehicles, from names like Toyota, Ford, Nissan and others.
Another favourite at the show is the life-sized version of the Hot Wheels cars. Children's toys come to life in full-size models that showcase the speed and spirit of these cars. For those who love the classics, they experienced the history of the Corvette in seven generations that began in 1953. The newest generation was 2014. Fans could see how the components have changed over the decades with the introduction of new technology.
Toyota Models
Several Toyota models were present at the auto show in the Exhibition Hall. The 2015 Toyota Camry was one model that people could look at up close. Just three years after the last redesign, the Camry has been redesigned again. Everything except the roof panel has been restyled and reshaped. Inside, the changes are evident as well with a soft-touch dash and a steering wheel that feels like it was made for you.
The 2015 Toyota Corolla is another well-loved model that was seen at the auto show. The S is the most popular trim level, and it has a sporty interior that provides comfort and makes it fun to drive. The sedan is a stylish, well-finished vehicle that is an economical choice for today's drivers.
Another Toyota model making an appearance was the 2015 Toyota Rav4. It was the first compact SUV in the market and is just a little larger and more spacious than the competition. You will also enjoy a quieter ride that is smooth and economical.
The Toyota i-ROAD EV made its appearance with a unique look that is not seen in North American cars. This vehicle is designed for narrow streets and won't be for sale in Canada or the U.S. The innovative design is ideal for high congestion in areas with less than ideal road conditions.
Toyota’s Concept Cars
Toyota brought in some new models as well for the auto show. Technology is taking center stage for car fans everywhere even beyond the sleek designs and impressive power. Toyota's hydrogen fuel cell vehicle is one of the innovative concepts unveiled at this year's auto show. It uses only hydrogen and converts it into electricity while emitting water out of the exhaust pipe. While this is a concept vehicle, it is expected to be on the market in the near future.
Even though it may be some time before the average person will own one of these vehicles, the advancement in technology proves that it is on the way. Hybrids were once only a dream car owned by a few people, and now Toyota has more one million hybrids on the road.
One of the big highlights of the show was the electric Bigfoot, a 100% green monster truck. This vehicle shows what innovation can do with its 30 car batteries providing 350 horsepower. While this truck may be the highlight of the concept vehicles, it is by no means the only one. Subaru, Infiniti, Cadillac and Lincoln also wowed visitors.
