If you buy from a Curber you will find it very difficult to to find justice if/when the situation goes wrong. If you are considering making a purchase from a private selling, ensure you familiarize yourself with the warning signs that you may be buying from a Curber. Part of doing your research is knowing what to look for in Curbers.
The things to look out for are:
-
The same telephone numbers for multiple vehicles.
-
They want to meet publicly (not at their residence)
-
They want to be paid only in cash.
-
They want you to lie on the transfer papers. (You will be less likely to go to the police if you have also lied)
-
They claim they are selling for a family member or friends and therefore their name is not on the paper work.
Curbers will try and rush you through the process of buying a car. Ensure you take your time and look for these warning signs. Not everyone who sells privately is a Curber, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
