2016 Toyota Highlander Review

2016 Toyota Highlander Review

Featuring the utmost in capacity and versatility inside a stylish body, the 2016 Toyota Highlander is an impressive, award-winning SUV. From hauling half of the soccer team to practice, to commuting and running errands, or exploring the great outdoors; the Highlander offers space, power, and peace-of-mind confidence. The 2016 Toyota Highlander is available in four trims levels: LE, LE AWD, XLE AWD, and Limited AWD.

Mature, with Plenty of Comfort to Offer

With sweeping, rising lines and a front end that is rounded and pronounced, the 4-door 2016 Toyota Highlander offers a sophisticated look of grandeur. The front end has smooth essence, with a grille that fits the look, and projector beam halogen headlamps that slash back deep into the fenders, ending just short of the subtly flared wheel arches. Roof rails are available for tying on larger cargo such as kayaks, snowboards, skis, or cargo containers for when you need to maximize passenger and interior cargo-carrying capabilities. For a little bit of help when loading in and out, opt for the adjustable-height power rear liftgate with jam protection. Power adjustable exterior mirrors are heated which prevent ice and snow from accumulating. Rear privacy glass is standard, while special solar-absorbing glass on the front and rear doors will protect passengers from UV rays. Add a power tilt/slide moonroof or a panoramic glass roof with sunshade, if you want your passengers to be able to enjoy a great view above while on the road.

Seating capacity inside the 2016 Toyota Highlander depends on the layout you choose - with a bench in the second row, there is room for eight, while captain's seats with an accompanying side table reduces the seating to seven. There is plenty of passenger space to go around, with over 1,000 millimetres of available headroom in the first and second rows, along with 976 millimetres or more of legroom. Cloth is the standard upholstery option, while leather and perforated leather are both available. The front seats can be heated, or heated and ventilated. Touch Panel Display Audio is standard, and ranges from a 6.1-inch colour display up to an 8-inch display with navigation and a premium JBL sound system. All multimedia centres include an auxiliary input jack, USB input port, voice recognition, and Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone Connectivity and Wireless Audio Streaming. This allows you to utilize your smartphone while keeping your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. Add text-to-speech capabilities and Driver Easy Speak for further enhanced connectivity and communication.

Intelligent Power

Very few full-size SUVs can juggle power and efficiency like the 2016 Toyota Highlander does. Front-wheel-drive is available on the base LE model while all other trims feature full-time all-wheel drive. By pairing a multi-mode 6-speed automatic transmission with the 3.5L engine, the Highlander offers decent fuel efficiency and can still tow up to 2,268 kilograms when properly equipped.
